With the Australian government moving quickly to push an agenda of national cyber security, sovereign cloud provider AUCloud has announced three new MSSP solutions to help its customers stay compliant.

The three managed services packages are:

These solutions were all designed to help customers meet their Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Essential 8 compliance obligations.

The announcement of these managed services comes on the back of AUCloud announcing online cyber phishing training in late February. One of the core objectives of the Australian government’s 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy is to improve efforts in raising awareness about cyber security among individuals and businesses. This is the first objective of the “six cyber shields” that sit at the centre of the strategy.

Between the training and the three managed security services, AUCloud aims to be key to its customers meeting these rapidly developing cyber security obligations.

“AUCloud cyber security solutions and packages reflect the company’s commitment to meeting and exceeding Australian regulatory and industry standards,” AUCloud CEO Peter Maloney said.

A growing sovereign force

As a sovereign cloud provider, AUCloud keeps all digital information, including stored data and data in transit across networks, in compliance with data sovereignty laws. Its customers include governments and large enterprises in highly regulated environments.

To these clients, cyber security is a particular concern in 2024, as regulatory expectations escalate and the ongoing skill shortage continues to make resourcing cyber security investment challenging.

Seeing this as an opportunity, AUCloud was able to raise $8.5 million in a funding round that closed in July of last year. This money was specifically targeted towards deeper engagement in cyber security and multi-cloud solutions.

“The team at AUCloud appreciates the ongoing shareholder confidence in our business and support of our strategy to accelerate the growth of our sovereign cloud and cyber security businesses,” Maloney said at the time.

Other companies that have announced significant plans around managed services in cyber security to capitalise on these trends in recent weeks include Attura and Spirit, with the latter pivoting to security as core to its future business.
