Australian MSP giant Kinetic IT continues to solidify its reputation as a government partner of choice, announcing a $50 million contract with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
With the new arrangement, Kinetic IT will provide integration and management services and will “work with the ATO’s current and future strategic IT partners to maintain and enhance the staff experience, enabling the continuity of effective service delivery for taxpayers.”
This is the first major contract the ATO has awarded as part of its IT Strategic Sourcing Program.
“Our team is looking forward to transitioning into the ATO over the coming months,” Kinetic IT CEO Michael North said. “We look forward to playing our role as a key technology partner for the agency and enabling increased innovation and collaboration between IT providers for the ATO.”
Kinetic IT’s team have already begun their transition into the ATO environment; work will commence in 2024 under a three-year contract with multiple extension options. Kinetic will provide services to the ATO in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
Deep Expertise in Government
The ATO contract comes just two months after Kinetic IT announced a large $35 million IT managed services contract with the Northern Territory Government (NTG). That four-year contract continues a 15-year association between the two parties and will see Kinetic IT provide IT Service Centre and Service Management Services to the entire NTG government and its 20,000 employees.
In recent years, Kinetic IT has also been a major winner in competitive bids for services to the Australian Department of Defence, with two separate contracts worth $59.1 million and $32.3 million respectively. These contracts, signed in 2019, were the company’s first successes with federal agencies.
In 2021, it partnered with ASG Group to secure a $500 million, seven-year contract with the Western Australia Department of Education.
Kinetic IT was founded in 1995 and is one of Australia’s largest privately-owned MSPs. Based in Perth, Western Australia, the company employs over 1,200 staff across the country. In addition to government clients, Kinetic IT supports clients in the corporate, resources, and utilities sectors.
Michael North was appointed as CEO in 2016, taking over from his brother, Terry North.
