Train for the Future: 2023

As I look back on 2022, I try to reflect on opportunities both gained and lost.  Each year we learn new skills, develop new relationships, and overcome new challenges to improve ourselves and prepare for the future. Training and development should be a constant priority so we’d like to share some important tips to help give you a competitive edge in 2023.

Understand the Past:

“If you define the problem correctly, you almost have the solution.” - Steve Jobs

Looking back at what you’ve accomplished in the past year is necessary in a few ways; seeing what challenges you’ve overcome, facing your failures, and reflecting on the big wins that helped you achieve your goals.  Too few of us take the time to review our past performance and learn from it.  Just spending a little time on this can help you from repeating the same mistakes you made the previous year.  In addition, reflecting on your successes and understanding how they came to be can better prepare yourself for a successful 2023.  Once you understand your challenges and successes you can then put together a communication and training plan to address those issues. This is particularly important when it comes to relationship marketing and understanding what worked and what didn’t to build your network.

Use Your Network To Improve Yourself:

Along with reflecting on the past year, building strong relationships now can help you tremendously in the future.  As we all know, it’s so important to build a solid network and nurture those business relationships. It can be so impactful to our businesses and our own personal development.  I think this is something that many professionals practice and work to master throughout their whole career and there’s a reason for that. When you meet with people in your network you always have the opportunity to learn something new that can help you with your business.  Use 2023 to continue to build on your network and seek relationships that will help you grow. Also, continue to nurture important current relationships by bringing them tons of value.  Lastly, seek assistance from business coaches and advisors. Often, they can help you overcome challenges that you may struggle to overcome on your own.  And remember, show reciprocal respect to all of your relationships.  Understand how you can help them grow as well.

Reflecting on the past and learning from your network are two essential tools to use when it comes to your personal development.  And, with this in mind, you must have the discipline to spend the time to understand what you can change in 2023 that will help you meet your financial and operational goals.  Plus, build on those important relationships and take the time to meet with them, learn from them and return the favor.

It doesn’t matter how many networking events, or breakfast meetings, or happy hours you attend. One can find a new connection, idea, or partnership when exposing yourself to productive events and gatherings. You and your network rely on each other. Use it to your advantage. And expanding your network, means expanding your knowledge base.

Gavin Dinkel:

Writing this blog is a prime example of improving for the future. Starting in September, I’ve learned about creating successful business development plans, and creating consistent, engaging content.

If there is one thing I would highlight in my brief experience would be gaining, maintaining, and improving relationships. As someone who is so new to the environment, meeting new people is always a learning experience and a pleasure.
